Re-leveling has been part of our service package for years. It enables you to give old steel plates with tension a second life. Due to increasing demand for steel with a higher tensile strength, we recently invested in a new leveling machine. This machine is expected to be put into operation in mid-2021.

Better performance

The Peak Performer 100P.2500-RB-C offers several advantages compared to the current machine. This powerful newcomer can handle more, particularly when it comes to somewhat thinner plates. For example, the current machine achieves a yield strength of 430 N/mm2 with a plate that is 3 mm thick. The Peak Performer can achieve up to 1,000 N/mm2. This is a considerable improvement. Depending on the yield stress of the material to be leveled, the new machine can process plates that are 2,000 mm wide, up to a thickness of 12 mm.

Innovative crowned roll system

The Peak Performer can level plates up to 2,500 mm wide. However, we expect most plates being processed to have a width of 2,100 mm, as this is the maximum width of our de-coil lines. This extra width allows us to make optimum use of the existing crowned roll system. This system removes any edge waves and inner tension from the plates.

In operation by mid-2021

The new leveling machine for Laura Staalcenter Maastricht will be delivered by the German manufacturer Kohler, which is represented in the Netherlands and Belgium by the company HEVAMI Surface Technology. We will start dismantling the current machines in the spring. The first plates are expected to pass through the new leveling machine in mid-2021.
